The Invitation by Joanna LeidenhagJoanna Leidenhag

“I am a theologian and a painter, trying to play my part in humanity’s ultimate purpose: loving our God. I believe paintings can participate in the creativity of the Father and the inspiration of the Spirit, and so with them, my images mostly depict Jesus as the ‘image of the invisible God’. My ideas for paintings come from the theology that I study and from biblical scenes. To me, art feels like an overly generous gift from God to be enjoyed, to challenge us, to teach and to inspire. It is my hope that God will use my paintings in these ways.”

The invitation by Joanna Leidenhag

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life inChrist Jesus our Lord." Romans 6 : 23

‘The Invitation’ was painted to show those who don’t know God that His invitation for a relationship with Him was open to them. During a time of change in my life, this image  has also become an image of trusting God to lead us into new seasons of life. Although the light is warm and colourful, you cannot see exactly what is behind it. However, the hand shows you that you will never be alone and that following God does not mean looking at his back all the time!"  Joanna Leidenhag
