The anointing by Diane Fairfield

The verse on the back of the card reads,You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23 : 5-6

The practice of rubbing oil mixed with other ingredients onto the heads and backs of sheep to prevent parasitic flies and scab was common in Old Testament times and continues today among shepherds.

Wildflower meadow by Sue Newham

The verse on the back of the card reads, “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.”   Luke 12 : 27

“I am amazed by the shapes, detail, colour and textures that God has placed in creation. He could have created just one flower, and we would have been none the wiser! I enjoy being creative all the more, knowing that I am following in the footsteps of the perfect artist, my Father.”  Sue Newham

The eyes of the Lord by Alison Powell

The verse on the back of the card reads, ” The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry.” Psalm 34 : 15

The lion is a reminder of the Lion of Judah in scripture. This magnificent animal is watchful, as if no detail would escape his attention. Our God sees every aspect of our lives and cares for us.

Stand Firm by Mark Wiggin

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”    Psalm 46:1

Mark says, “This painting is based on a Hawthorn tree growing among the granite rocks of a Dartmoor tor. It has to endure a harsh environment with extreme cold and winds. And yet God provides the tree with sufficient shelter, rain and sunshine. A reminder for us that God will provide for all our needs in every situation.”

Worship by Emma Pilkington

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Give to the Lord the glory due to his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” Psalm 29 : 2

“On this occasion I started thinking of Noah releasing the dove from the ark. When I began painting,  the painting felt like a worship context with the Holy Spirit attracted to a worshipping congregation. I returned later to define the hands and dove but this was essentially a rapidly painted picture.” Emma Pilkington

The Holy Trinity and the bride by Emma Pilkington

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.” Isaiah 62 : 5
“Last summer our church held a tent mission on Eelbrook Common. I received the idea for this image in prayer before the event and painted it live over the two days. Many people were encouraged by it and found it interesting and inspiring. Some asked why Jesus had a Jewish prayer shawl. Others wanted to know who “The Bride” was. It felt like a really easy way to talk about the Christian faith. Many people from other countries live in the area and were intrigued by the middle eastern feel of the picture.”                      Emma Pilkington

Christ in the desert by Shawn Alyea

I wanted to show the human and vulnerable side of our Lord. He is facing hardship, yet his expression is peaceful. He sits quietly in the desert, clutching his wrist to stay warm as a large moon lights the darkness around him. His clothing is plain, almost mixing in with the colours of the sand. He has a halo that is almost imperceptible and lines his body, again focusing more on his humanity rather than his divine attributes. I hope you can enter into his presence as you gaze upon Christ in the desert (Luke 4:1-2). Shawn Alyea
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” Hebrews 2 : 18
