Worship by Emma Pilkington

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Give to the Lord the glory due to his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” Psalm 29 : 2

“On this occasion I started thinking of Noah releasing the dove from the ark. When I began painting,  the painting felt like a worship context with the Holy Spirit attracted to a worshipping congregation. I returned later to define the hands and dove but this was essentially a rapidly painted picture.” Emma Pilkington

The Holy Trinity and the bride by Emma Pilkington

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.” Isaiah 62 : 5
“Last summer our church held a tent mission on Eelbrook Common. I received the idea for this image in prayer before the event and painted it live over the two days. Many people were encouraged by it and found it interesting and inspiring. Some asked why Jesus had a Jewish prayer shawl. Others wanted to know who “The Bride” was. It felt like a really easy way to talk about the Christian faith. Many people from other countries live in the area and were intrigued by the middle eastern feel of the picture.”                      Emma Pilkington

Our Father by Shawn Alyea

“Christ is in conversation with the Father as he gazes into Heaven. His image is upon a black background with a thin backlight of white tracing his figure. Our Father is a foundational prayer for the faith. Anything we want to pray about can be contained by this powerful prayer. Christ allows us an intimate glance into the deeply personal conversations he has with Abba, our Daddy.” Shawn Alyea
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6 : 9-10

Christ in the desert by Shawn Alyea

I wanted to show the human and vulnerable side of our Lord. He is facing hardship, yet his expression is peaceful. He sits quietly in the desert, clutching his wrist to stay warm as a large moon lights the darkness around him. His clothing is plain, almost mixing in with the colours of the sand. He has a halo that is almost imperceptible and lines his body, again focusing more on his humanity rather than his divine attributes. I hope you can enter into his presence as you gaze upon Christ in the desert (Luke 4:1-2). Shawn Alyea
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” Hebrews 2 : 18

Casting nets by Shawn Alyea

This painting blurs sea and land. The storms of life sometimes overwhelm our lives. In these times, it becomes clear that peace can only be found in Christ’s presence. In this picture, we see Christ casting nets in the midst of the storms of life that he uses to draw us to him. He is our only salvation. Christ invited the disciples to cast their nets too and said he would make them fishers of men. (Matthew 4:19)
The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19 : 1

Our redemption by Shawn Alyea

“Our Redemption”  expresses the theme of Christ’s sacrifice and his humanity. He will carry the sins of the world. (John 1:36) It is a simple painting in regard to line. The stary hairs show that Christ is approachable. He is not a God removed from our situation. I aimed to show Christ’s sensitivity in his face, giving his holy face a skin that is almost translucent.”     Shawn

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “He gave Himself for us. He did this by buying us with His blood and making us free from all sin.” Titus 2 : 14

Rooted liberation by Carl Irving

This mixed media picture explores the mystery that when we are firmly rooted in Christ we experience our greatest freedom.

The verse on the back of the greetings card reads, “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 15 : 4
