The Bible tells us so much about God and his character. Yet one of the most mysterious aspects and one that is the least understood by many Christians is the Trinity. How can God be Father, Son and Holy Spirit, all separate and yet completely united? Because we can’t get our heads around it, we tend to push the Trinity to one side, as if it is a mysterious optional extra which we can manage fine without really grasping.
In reality, the Trinity is the perfect pattern for our relationship with God, and our relationships with each other. God models a way to share love, respect and obedience, without losing our individuality.
I’ll be the first to admit that I can’t grasp the complexity and wonder of the relationship between God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. But even seeing these three “as through a glass darkly” has enriched my understanding of who God is and how much he loves me.
Mark Wiggin and Sue Newham have both painted pictures called Trinity. We hope they speak to you.
